McLaren P1: First details

Missed the legendary McLaren F1? Wanted to see something similar from McLaren again from a long time?
Well, your wait maybe finally over, but not until two years down the line. This is it, the McLaren P1 is the replacement to one of the best supercars to ever. McLaren has now released the concept images to the public. But as we can see, its still in its concept stage.

The production version will take a whole year to be shown, and then another year will be needed for the first of the specimens to be delivered. But till then, we can only hope that it is as good as, if not better, then the F1.

The first teaser of the McLaren P1

The McLaren F1, remember, was a car, now around twenty years old, which could reach 242.95 mph. It had a BMW V12 engine which produced 618 bhp. Doesn't seem much, especially compared to the latest supercars like the Ferrari F12 and the Lambo Aventador, but back then, ABS was not  standard on any street car and ESP was, well, unknown. So even if the F1 had a whole 100 bhp less than these, it felt as if it was going a million mph faster.

Also, it could do 0-62 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds, which is laudable even today. For better heat reflection, the engine bay was lined with 1 grams of gold. It cost about 500,000 euros when launched, though now its value has reached an awesome 2-4 million euros.

After the P1 is released, it will compete against the Porche 918 and the upcoming Ferrari F70. It will be placed above the McLaren MP4-12C and will command a higher price for its better performance.
