Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio




The Alfa Romeo Giulia (Type 952) is a compact executive car (D-segment) produced by the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo. It was premiered in June 2015, with market launch scheduled for February 2016, and it is the first D-segment offering by Alfa Romeo after the production of the 159 ended in 2011. The Giulia is also the first high volume production Alfa Romeo in over two decades to use a longitudinal engined rear-wheel drive platform, since the 75 was discontinued in 1992.

Alfa Romeo also makes the gorgeous 4C, a compact 8C.

Quadrifoglio

The high-performance Giulia Quadrifoglio ("four-leaf clover") was the first model in the new Giulia range to be revealed, in Italy in June 2015. It made its official world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motorshow. The Italian Police took delivery of the 2 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglios wrapped in a navy blue paint that it's so inky virtually black, it sports red stripes over the car and it has flashing lights over its chin spoiler and white roof.


The Quadrifoglio is powered by an all-aluminium, twin-turbocharged 90° V6 petrol engine, with a single-cylinder displacement of just under half a litre, for a total of 2,891 cc (176.4 cu in). This engine was developed exclusively for the Quadrifoglio by Ferrari technicians and it is related to Ferrari's own twin-turbo F154 V8.,[9] sharing the California T's bore of 86.5 mm (3.4 in) and stroke of  82.0 mm (3.2 in). It produces 510 metric horsepower (375 kW; 503 bhp) at 6,500 rpm, and 600 N·m (440 lb·ft) of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm, and its turbo boost pressure reaches up to 35 pounds per square inch (2.4 bar) at the peak. Thanks to cylinder deactivation (with the ability to switch off three of the six cylinders),this model achieves a fuel consumption of 8.5 litres per 100 kilometres (33 mpg-imp; 28 mpg-US) and CO2 emissions of 198 g/km, in the combined cycle.


According to Alfa Romeo, the Giulia Quadrifoglio can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and come to a standstill from that speed in 32 meters, when fitted with carbon ceramic brakes. This model has also lapped Nurburgring's Nordschleife circuit in just 7:39.0, which is record for a saloon car. In September 2016 was published new lap record with automatic transmission version, new record was timed at 7 minutes and 32 seconds.

The Quadrifoglio weighs 1,524 kilograms (3,360 pounds) (DIN) for a power-to-weight ratio of 3 kg/PS. This is achieved thanks to the Quadrifoglio sharing the other models' composite and light alloy construction, as well as featuring a roof and engine bonnet made of carbon fibre.


From the front, the Quadrifoglio distinguishes itself from the rest of the range by a specific front bumper—with a carbon fibre splitter and enlarged air intakes for the twin intercoolers and for the brakes—and by a bonnet pierced by two cooling outlets for the engine bay. On the sides, the front wings also have outlets to extract air from the wheel wells, and bear Quadrifoglio badges; the side skirts are specific to the model, as are the 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear a low-profile carbon fibre spoiler is applied to the boot lid, and a rear diffuser makes up the lower half of the bumper, flanked by quadruple exhaust tips. Working in conjunction with the faired-in underside, the diffuser is fully functional in generating downforce—as at the front is the "Active Aero Splitter", which can vary its angle of attack by 10°, moved by electric motors. Alfa Romeo claims these active aero features to be firsts in the Giulia's market segment and are able to generate up to 100 kg of downforce at 300 km/h. The Giulia Quadrifoglio has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.32.

Mechanically, this model is fitted with a torque vectoring rear differential, able to send 100% of the torque to the left or right wheel, and, on the model which debuted in July 2015, a six-speed manual transmission, made by ZF. The braking system uses carbon ceramic rotors, six-pot front and four-pot rear calipers, and auxiliary rear calipers for the parking brake. The electronic stability control and the traditional brake servo are combined in a single electromechanical system.



Inside, the dashboard is part-trimmed in leather and carbon fibre trim and the engine start button is located on the multi-function steering wheel. In addition, the driver is offered Alfa Romeo's "DNA" dynamic control selector, which is placed on the centre dashboard. Driving modes include the traditional "Dynamic", "Natural" and "Advanced" modes, plus new "Efficient" (for increased fuel economy) and "Racing" (for high performance).

The launch prices of the Quadrifoglio in Italy range from €79,000 to €95,000 for a version with full racing kit, which includes carbon ceramic brake discs and ultra-light carbonfibre sport seats.

McLaren BP23: Behold McLaren's F1 Successor



Mclaren has finally, after months of public speculation, confirmed that it is in fact working on an F1 successor, releasing a teaser image too. McLaren's words-"McLaren has always done things differently. Today is no exception. Introducing our new three-seat 'Hyper-GT', codenamed BP23".

So yes, the legendary F1's back, but will fill a wider 'GT' role. Think the P1 mixed with a little 570GT, only a lot more luxurious and exclusive(are you listening Bugatti?).

McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt said this: “We are calling BP23 a ‘Hyper-GT’ because it’s a car designed for longer journeys but with the high levels of performance and driver engagement expected of any McLaren.

“A hybrid powertrain will make it one of the most powerful McLarens yet created but the car will also deliver the highest levels of refinement, enabling significant journeys to be undertaken with up to three people aboard.”

It’s described as the “most exquisitely crafted and luxurious road-going McLaren to date”, and its three-seat layout – with the driver in the middle – will be wrapped up in a slender carbonfibre body.

Design work has begun – this teaser shot should tell you it’s far from finished – and all 106 will be tailored to their owners in regards to colour and trim. The BP23’s switchgear, meanwhile, will be unique among the McLaren range.

Koenigsegg Regera



The Koenigsegg Regera is a limited production, plug-in hybrid sports car manufactured by Swedish manufacturer of high-performance sports cars Koenigsegg. It was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The name Regera is a Swedish verb, meaning "to reign" or "to rule." Only 80 units will be built, of which 40 have already been sold as of March 2016, each costing approximately US$1.9 million. The Regera was created and designed to be a more practical, luxury, hypercar alternative to the rest of Koenigsegg's lightweight hypercar lineup, including the Agera RS and the One:1. Koenigsegg states that the Regera will be the most powerful and fastest accelerating production car ever. The production of the Regera will result in Koenigsegg, for the first time ever, simultaneously having two models in production.


It competes with the LaFerrari, P1, 918 Spyder, Henessey Venom and the daddy of hypercars, the Bugatti Chiron.


Specifications

The Regera produces a reported total of 1,822 metric horsepower through a hybrid powertrain. As in general, the Regera's internal combustion engine (ICE) produces its greatest power only at high RPMs; however, due to the fixed gear, this corresponds to very high speeds. Power at low speeds is filled in by the electric motors, giving a maximum combined mechanical output of 1,500 metric horsepower and 1,475 pound-feet of torque. The ICE is a mid-rear mounted, in-house developed, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a 5.0-litre capacity. It produces 820 kW (1,100 bhp; 1,115 PS) at 7,800 RPM and 1,280 Nm (944.1 ft·lb) at 4,100 RPM. It works in conjunction with three YASA electric motors with a total capacity of 520 kW (697 bhp) and 900 Nm (663.8 ft·lb) of torque. One 215 bhp (160 kW) electric motor-generator on the crankshaft acts as starter and generator and supplies torque fill; and two 241 bhp (180 kW) wheel-shaft mounted electric motors drive the each rear wheel and provide torque vectoring. The electric motors are powered by a 4.5-kWh, 800-volt, 75-kg liquid cooled battery pack developed by Rimac Automobili, making it the first 800-volt production car. Koenigsegg claims that the battery pack is the most power-dense battery pack ever created for a production car.



Transmission

Christian von Koenigsegg invented the Koenigsegg Direct Drive System (KDD) and it was developed for the Regera by the Koenigsegg Advanced Engineering Team. The KDD system effectively eliminates the need for a transmission and allows for pure EV (electric vehicle) mode. The Regera doesn't have a traditional multi-gear transmission but instead features a single-speed fixed-gear transmission, often called a direct drive, with a 2.73:1 reduction ratio, meaning the crankshaft mounted on the ICE will rotate 2.73 times for every 1 time that the output shaft of the direct drive mechanism will rotate. At speeds below 30 mph, mostly the wheel shaft electric motors propel the car through the use of a hydraulic coupling that lets the ICE and the crankshaft mounted electric motor slip. In reverse, only the wheel shaft electric motors propel the car. Above 30 mph, the RPM of the crankshaft mounted electric motor and internal combustion engine are proportional to wheel speed through locking of the hydraulic coupling. However, in the first driving footage from the Regera through Koenigseggs official Youtube channel, Christian von Koenigsegg described and demonstrated how the Regera features a steering wheel mounted paddle that simulates a traditional downshift by initiating slip of the hydraulic coupling connecting the crankshaft to the output shaft. This results in higher RPM of the ICE and the cranskshaft mounted electric motor and therefore higher power at lower speeds than what would have been possible if the coupling would have been locked at all times. Koenigsegg reported that the omission of a gearbox and addition of electric motors and battery only added 88 kg (194 lb) compared to what the Regera would have weighed with the same combustion engine but a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and no electric motors or batteries.



Interior features

The Regera will include added insulation to help add to the luxury by reducing cabin noise caused by wind and powertrain noises. Also included as an added luxury item over previous models will be 8-way electrically adjustable memory foam seats. The Regera will also include many new technical features such as a Koenigsegg 9-inch information and entertainment system, a complete camera system with recording capabilities (front, inner, and rear), Apple CarPlay, a new sound system, ambient lighting, and 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. It will also feature front and rear parking sensors.



The Regera will feature active engine mounts for the ICE and transmission to rest on. The engine mounts are designed to stay soft at lower speeds, significantly reducing vibrations and engine noise, adding to the luxury effect of the vehicle. While driving more aggressively or at higher speeds, the engine mounts will firm up, giving greater lateral response to the vehicle.

Exterior features

Christian von Koenigsegg believes that a good design of the day-time running (DRL) lights on a vehicle gives it character, and developed a DRL system that is supposed to resemble a constellation with the carbon-fiber background resembling the night sky.

Koenigsegg claims that the Regera is the first "fully-robotized" car. The vehicle features hydraulic pumps and accumulators to control the active front and rear wings, as well as active chassis control and lifting. Hydraulic lifters were added to the already existing pumps and accumulators to allow for all body panels on the vehicle to be remotely operated.



Performance

Koenigsegg states that the car has a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph), is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, 300 km/h (190 mph) in 10.9 seconds, and a speed of 400 km/h (250 mph) in 20 seconds. Koenigsegg also claims that the acceleration from 150 to 250 km/h (from 93 to 155 mph) requires 3.9 seconds.

Bugatti Chiron



This is it. Perhaps the ultimate automobile man has produced. The Bugatti Chiron cannot be compared with other cars, oh no, this creation needs to be compared with some of the other ultimate creations of mankind, like the Concorde and the Burj Khalifa. The numbers say it all: 8 litres, 16 cylinder, quad turbo motor,  1479 bhp, 1660 Nm torque, 261 mph, and $2.6 million(!). There are only a handful of equals.


The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engined, two-seated hyper car, designed and developed by the Bugatti automotive group (which is owned by the Volkswagen Group) as the successor to the mighty Bugatti Veyron. The Chiron was first revealed at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, 2016. It also will be the second edition of the Bugatti 18/3 Chiron.

The Chiron competes with the highest stratosphere of hypercars like the manic Koenigsegg Regera, Keonigsegg Agera, the brutally fast Henessay Venom GT and the holy trinity of McLaren P1Porsche 918 Spyder and the Ferrari LaFerrari.


The car is named in honor of the Monegasque driver, Louis Chiron. You know you are great when the perhaps the world's fastest car is named after you.

 The main carryover piece will be the 8 litre W16 quad-turbocharged engine, though it is heavily updated. The Chiron has 1,103 kW (1,479 bhp) of power and 1,600 N·m (1,180 lb·ft) of torque starting from 2000 rpm. Like its predecessor, the Veyron, it has a carbon fibre body structure, independent suspension and AWD system.

The Veyron Super Sport holds the current top speed record – clocked at 268mph with its electronic speed limiter deactivated.

According to Dürheimer, the Bugatti engineering team ‘knows the Chiron is faster, but not by how much’. However, there will have been plenty of computer simulations to give the company confidence about a significant improvement on the record. Sources suggest 288mph is definitely possible, but whether Bugatti discovers a way to find another 12mph and be first to that tantalising 300mph target remains to be seen.

The new Chiron makes almost 300bhp more than its Veyron Super Sport predecessor. The top speed is limited to 261mph for “road use”, but the firm states this is “by no means the end of the road” for the Chiron. The speedo runs up to 500kmh (310mph).


The Chiron will accelerate from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.4 seconds according to the manufacturer, 0–200 km/h (124 mph) in under 6.5 seconds and 0–300 km/h (186 mph) in under 13.6 seconds. The Chiron's top speed is electronically limited to 420 km/h (261 mph) for safety reasons. The anticipated full top speed of the Bugatti Chiron is believed to be around 463 km/h (288 mph). Its predecessor (the Bugatti Veyron SS) makes almost 300 less bhp than the new Chiron, and although the Chiron's limiter gets it only to 261 mph the speedometer gets up to 310 mph.

Bugatti has made this monumental speed possible by enlarging each of the four turbos and introducing an innovative new two-stage spooling system. A titanium exhaust also features, as do six enormous catalytic converters. The manufacturer also claims the Chiron uses the highest-performance clutch ever fitted to a passenger car. Carbon silicon carbide brakes with eight pistons rein all that power in, as does the air-brake that protrudes from the rear haunches.


But this isn’t just a straight-line weapon, according to Bugatti. The carbon body is based around a new carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, which should mean it’s considerably lighter. It gets an adaptive suspension system and specially developed tyres, and is claimed to be “an agile, modern Bugatti with handling that ensures maximum driving pleasure”.

The bold mix of curves and straight lines for the exterior is striking. At the front it gets a sculpted bonnet and low headlights, while round the back, a unique 1.6m long LED light strip features.
